Dream Out Loud: My Thoughts on Brett Favre after the game in Green Bay

I think the fans were booing Green Bay, not Favre. Thats how i took it when i was there rooting for the Favre to kick some ass. As one Packer fan said behind me, "Give us something to cheer for."

To be fair there was a lot of support and positive signs for Favre there but it should have been more. I can understand not doing it before the game, but afterwards there should have been a deafening standing ovation.

I think many of the fans were sick with the realization they made a mistake letting him go.

amen to that! I totally agree with you on every word..I'm glad that there is someone out there, other then me, who see how great of a football player Brett is. I have been a fan of his since he played at usm and have followed him from atlanta and then green bay, and i never would have though green bay would have treated him the way they did sunday, i have actually lost respect for green bay now. Green Bay shown him no respect Sunday and like you said they should be embarrassed by their actions. He did so much for that city and play his heart out every game he played and this is their thanks for that? I will suppose Brett though everything he does and just hopefully he & the vikings will be in the super bowl this year in miami, he deserves it!! I would love nothing more then to see Brett playing for another 5 years and I just think he might have it in him lol. :) GO BRETT!

I was a huge Packers fan the entire time Favre played there but after the way they handled him leaving, I was done. Favre is my favorite athlete of all-time and I think he is one of the best football players ever. He is definitely the most fun to watch.

Just buzzing anything Phil and came upon this.
You sound like young guys, certainly younger than me. So, as "the old guy", I want to tell you something. I've watched a lot of sports in my life. All I want to say is that it's sad to me that you guys probably never have had the confident feeling that no matter where you were in sports, fan, player, tv watcher, whatever... you KNEW that the first urge out of anyone was to be sportsman-like. Gut-reaction sportsmanship.

Now I've got worse news. If you're under 35, you've never experienced freedom. If you're under 40, you were too young to remember it.

So why am I posting this stuff? Well, I can't describe either one of these things to you, so I won't try. All I can tell you is this: If you could feel gut-sportsmanship or especially REAL freedom, you would kick any a$$, take any abuse, do anything in your power to get it back.

I watched that Vikings-GB game, and the one thing equal to what turned out to be a great game was watching Favre playing with the passion and fire of a guy who just made his first successful NFL play of his career. All game long.

BTW... 40 years ago the Green Bay fans would have cheered Favre coming ON the field. Sure there would have been boos, but you would NEVER heard them over the standing cheers.
